Laxxon Medical is a biotech company with a patented 3-D screen printing technology which is reinventing the pharmaceutical experience for the patient and the industry. We are based in New York City with subsidiaries in Switzerland and Germany. We are in search of a Business Development Director who will join our team and help move our business strategy forward with the management team. 


The Director will report to Business Development Officer. The ideal candidate should be an analytical problem solver with strong communication and project management skills. The Director will focus on identifying new strategic opportunities, developing sales & marketing plans, meet with pharma clients and provide partner management support. 


Role overview 

We are seeking a Business Development Director who is highly analytical and passionate about working in a Biotech startup environment where they’ll have direct influence over strategic business decisions. Working directly with our leadership team, this position will have cross-functional exposure within our expanding organization and will drive performance of our core business goals. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design and build a scalable business development function to support long-term and short-term growth strategy to maximize business opportunity. 

  • Partner with leadership to develop frameworks to support the company in business operational planning and strategic decision-making.  

  • Drive over-plan revenue and customer acquisition performance within the US by identifying customer needs, building business plans and working with management on negotiation efforts with identified clients. 

  • Build strategic partnerships with prospective and current pharma clients. 

  • Performs gap analysis to business portfolio and defines strategic and tactical steps to best position business for accelerated growth. 

  • Identify, scope, and execute critical long-term business operations initiatives (pre-IPO planning, market launch planning, partnership operations, scale new products with pharma clients, etc.). 

  • Lead Business Development marketing activities by attending trade/scientific shows and collaborating with the Marketing group to create various collateral including brochures, web content and presentations. 

  • Support core business processes including annual planning, operational target setting, company performance reporting, etc. 

  • Provide perspectives on the potential impact of external market and competitive signals that could impact future business performance. 

  • Develop deep expertise in market dynamics to identify key trends and appropriately assess opportunities and guide the overall strategic direction.   

  • Perform analytical projects to drive growth, reduce costs, and maximize efficiency for an executive-level audience. 

  • Facilitate completion of multi-year strategic plans, as well as implementation plans that enable robust execution of these strategies. 

  • Develop and cultivate pharma customer network, drawing from contacts/relationships in market to drive deal flow. 


Qualifications 

  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. Understands trends in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, knowledge of healthcare dynamics in the US and other major global markets, as well as understands key aspects of drug development, commercialization, and business development processes. 

  • Ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders at all levels of the organization (management team, board and functional counterparts).  

  • Demonstrates strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify and develop relevant strategic frameworks, alternative scenarios, analyze implications, and develop recommendations for direction or action. 

  • Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications. 

  • Good understanding of finance and P&L implications of any strategy. 

  • Ability to work with complex information and distill into a framework that helps facilitate decision-making. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a startup organization. 

  • Strong communication/presentation skills sufficient to effectively address the Board, management team, and external audiences. 

  • Prior experience in consulting is preferred. 

  • BA/BS – required; MBA preferred. 


Additional Requirements: 

  • Able to work remotely but must be able to travel to the NYC HQ and road shows when needed 

  • Must be eligible to work in the US. 

  • If employed, being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the NYC mandate enacted 12/27/21.
